Comp Plan Simulator
A comp plan is the clearest message a rep ever gets about which accounts to go after. Set a base and a commission, put two reps under the plan, and see who it pays more: the rep who signs more accounts, or the rep who brings in more revenue.

How the pay is worked out
- Pay = the monthly base + the bonus × the new accounts + the revenue share × the first-year revenue of those accounts. It’s shown for one month of signings, so the revenue share is what that month’s accounts pay the rep over their first year.
- Revenue = a rep’s new accounts × their average first-year net revenue: what the accounts pay, less the pass-through costs you never keep, as in the numbers, defined.
- Pay per $1 of revenue is what the business spends on the rep for every dollar of first-year revenue the month’s accounts bring in. Net revenue left after pay is what’s left of that first year once the rep is paid. It isn’t contribution yet: the accounts’ other variable costs, such as residual splits and losses, still come out of it.
- The two reps start as one who signs more, smaller accounts and one who signs fewer, bigger ones. Change either to match your own team.
- What it leaves out: quotas and accelerators, quarterly and annual bonuses, clawbacks, and revenue past the first year.
